A few words about Dona Catharina.

Dona Catharina is a 60 foot ketch rigged steel cutter, build 1984 by Van der Meer in Holland, where she is still registered .
She is ideally suited for small group expeditions,  film makers, adventures, or just for that special holiday trip with family or friends, as she features 4 cabins, 2 with 1x double beds, one IMG_0842cabin with 2x single bunks and one cabin with 4x bunk beds. so there is plentyIMG_0828 of privacy. All bunk beds are equipped with lee sails to stop you falling out of your bunk when Dona Catharina is hard pressed by the wind . There are 2 bathrooms , both with hot and cold showers. She also features a large decks house, that is the ideal gathering place for common meals when the weather is miserable . The second helm station is also in the decks house, and all the navigation electronics and communication equipment are located around the helms chair and the chart table. But in the image1 (3)tropics we will spend a lot of time outside in Dona Catharina’s large cockpit, under the shade sail.

Dona Catharina is equipped with:

Safety: life raft, 2x ribs with 10 and 20 hp Yamaha outboards , life lines and life vests for 15 persons, including survival cods for infants.  EPIRP, flares, satellite phone, portable and fixed VHF ,fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, dan buys with automated lights, live rings  survival suits, comprehensive medical kit.

For your use: 2x Kajaks,IMG_0844 2x dive equipment and dive compressor, 1x wind surfer,

IMG_08242x tenders, consisting of 3.6 m rib with 20 hp Yamaha outboard that can carry up to 8 people. And a 3m rib with a 10hp Yamaha outboard that will carry up to 5 people , a gas BBQ to prepare that freshly caught fish in the cockpit, there is a library and plenty snorkel gear.

Power: Dona Catharina carries 3000l of diesel which gives her a range of 1200 miles under engine. She is powered by a 160hp Hino diesel that moves her in a calm at about 5kn at a bearable noise level.
Electricity : is available in form of 12 and 24 volt DC almost unlimited as the batteries are recharged via large solar panels. And in form of 240 voltAC either via a 6kw generator or via an inventor on request.2930963F-F59E-4268-9927-D4556E384C7F

Fresh water :  900 l in 5 tanks. reverse osmosis water maker ,producing 90l/h

Electronics and navigation: Northstar chart plotter gps and fish finder / depth sounder. Northstar 36 mile radar. VHF plus 3x hand held units. SSB radio. Iridium satellite phone. Weather fax. Comprehensive selection of paper charts, pilot books, sextant,  almanac,  and other nautical publication. Auto pilot . Inside and outside helm station with magnetic steering compassIMG_0827
Radio and CD player with ports. Printer and lab tops . Unlimited wifi within range of NZ network, and offshore, the satellite phone allows us to send and receive short emails

Rigging: ketch rigged Bermuda cutter IMG_0793, carrying 27m2 mizzen with 2 reefing points 46m2 main sail with 2 reefing points ,30m2 stay sail, 67m2 roller furled genoa That currently adds up to 170 m2 total, but we are trying to source a mizzen stay sail before our next departure . In ideal condition she can reach speeds up to 10kn but she has proven to average 7.5 in  normal  trade wind conditions.
